Winning the Lottery - Mathematically
By Ocean on Aug 28, 2008 in Articles of Interest, Featured
AP reports that a Wisconsin couple have each won the lottery - twice:
Verlyn and Judith Adamson claimed two $350,000 jackpots on Monday because each held a winning ticket in the state SuperCash drawing last Saturday. They didn’t mention at the time that they also held two more of the winning tickets.
Apparently Verlyn Adamson, an accountant who is interested in math puzzles, claims to have come up with a formula for picking the winning numbers in a lottery. He isn’t revealing his secret, but said he’s exploring patent protection.
We are forever the open-minded skeptics, so we’ll see if this is really extraordinary mathematical genius or just a hoax. Regardless, we’ll keep you updated with any updates on its veracity, as well as the math behind it if possible.
